This site has always, and will always be here to help you learn how to become a DJ - it's just getting past these little teething problems post release that I still need to iron out.

It's been three months since the release of DJing for Dummies, and I think I've finally finished the site design stuff. I still need to edit and upload pages about Advanced Mixing Techniques, Scratching, Professional DJ Equipment, DJing Live, Getting Work as DJ - and a few more - but I think the black-spots on the site have now disappeared for the time being.

Most of the ads on here sucked, so the bad ones have gone. And I've fixed the layout problems on a lot of the pages. Let me know if I've missed anything.

Personal Tuition

Sort yourself with Slappas!

Ok - a week ago, I bought myself some Slappa CD cases for all my CD's. My CD DJing is now SO much easier (and safer) as I can include an inlay of what's on the disc in with the CD - rather having to print directly to the CD (and not know what's on the disc when it's playing) or try to jam an inlay into the sleeve with the CD (and it gets all rumpled). I love you all... I mean it. I've shown you my love by fixing a lot of link errors on here, and slightly re-formatting things. You'll now see an ad down the right hand side on most pages. Why? Because this site costs a lot to run, and I'm about to jack in my day job to spend more time helping people become better DJs. I'm going to need as much money as I can get!

Total re-design

To mark the worldwide release of the DJing for Dummies, I hope visitors who have been here before will notice that the site has been completely redesigned. I'd love to hear what you think of it (email me here)

Gone are the old, slow-loading, dodgy DHTML drop-downs, replaced with (what I hope is) some simpler ones. There's still a lot of text to go in, but I hope you'll appreciate the tider set up.

When trying to make more clips for the Videos page, I decided to make longer, deeper 'Lecture' videos instead. There's more to come (like videos on how to use Pioneer's CDJ1000 and DJM 600 DJ equipment), but so far people are positive about the first two.

As I said on the main page of this site, I'm branching off into a whole new area - personal tuition to help you become a better DJ. How successful this'll be, I'm slightly unsure of for the time being - as I don't know how many people in Glasgow/Scotland would be interested, but in case you're interested, please keep reading.

I'm happy to teach anyone, in as big a group as you may have (though please understand, if you've got 20 people who want to learn how to DJ, it's going to take time, and more equipment than I am able to take). If you have a corporate event that you'd like to have some DJ tuition at, that's fine. If you just bought a set of decks for your surly kids, that's fine too. I'll charge either by the hour - or by an 8 hour day.

How it'll work

Ok, there's a few ways this'll work.

I come to you - using your equipment - and teach you wherever you want on whatever you have
You come to me - and using my Pioneer DJM600, 2x CDJ1000 MkIII's and 2 x Technics 1210's - I'll teach you here.
I come to you with my Pioneer DJM600 and 2xCDJ 1000MkIII's and Roland powered speakers to teach you. (Turntables will be an extra charge due to the hassle).

Location

As I realise more people will want help outside of Glasgow than in the Glasgow area, my plans for this are simple. If you look at the picture below, you'll see Glasgow, with a red blob in the middle of it. If you're inside that band, there's no travel charge - anything outside that band, and it'll work out as either 12p per mile if I'm able to drive to you - or the cost of planes/trains etc if you're that far away. Click on the picture to open a larger one (in case you need to see the same thing... a bit larger).

I'll go anywhere to teach you - America, India, Australia, England, Wales, Ireland, Scotland - no matter where you want taught, I'll come to you - but if it IS somewhere that it's not a simple case of coming to you and going home again, then more discussions will need to be held about acommadation/expenses etc.

Although, I do figure all of that is unlikely - and i'll probably never venture outside of Glasgow/Scotland to do this - but it's probably best to lay out the rules now. It's best to have a discusson on something that's already been said, than an agrument about something that hasn't!

So - if you're interested, please send me an email, and we'll talk costs/times etc, and hopefully I can play a bigger part in a lot more new DJs development.
