Always about helping you become a DJ
This site has always, and will always be here to help you learn how to become a DJ - it's just getting past these little teething problems post release that I still need to iron out.
It's been three months since the release of DJing for Dummies, and I think I've finally finished the site design stuff. I still need to edit and upload pages about Advanced Mixing Techniques, Scratching, Professional DJ Equipment, DJing Live, Getting Work as DJ - and a few more - but I think the black-spots on the site have now disappeared for the time being.

Critical Updates
Most of the ads on here sucked, so the bad ones have gone. And I've fixed the layout problems on a lot of the pages. Let me know if I've missed anything.
Personal Tuition
I'm starting a personal DJ tuition venture for those who'd like a bit more help when it comes to learning how to become a DJ. Check out the tuition page for more info.
New Videos
I've added a couple more DJing Video Clips onto the Videos section. Just a couple of example mixes, with the camera on the mixer. Go to the Videos page to see more.
Sort yourself with Slappas!
Ok - a week ago, I bought myself some Slappa CD cases for all my CD's. My CD DJing is now SO much easier (and safer) as I can include an inlay of what's on the disc in with the CD - rather having to print directly to the CD (and not know what's on the disc when it's playing) or try to jam an inlay into the sleeve with the CD (and it gets all rumpled). So happy am I with these that they're now the main 'sponsor' of this site. Check em out using the banners at the top of each page - and if you're a CD DJ - buy some - they really will help. Look out for a special Promo Code, giving you money off - coming within the next couple of days (hopefully).
Happy Valentines Day!
14.02.2007
I love you all... I mean it. I've shown you my love by fixing a lot of link errors on here, and slightly re-formatting things. You'll now see an ad down the right hand side on most pages. Why? Because this site costs a lot to run, and I'm about to jack in my day job to spend more time helping people become better DJs. I'm going to need as much money as I can get!
Total re-design
To mark the worldwide release of the DJing for Dummies, I hope visitors who have been here before will notice that the site has been completely redesigned. I'd love to hear what you think of it (email me here)
Gone are the old, slow-loading, dodgy DHTML drop-downs, replaced with (what I hope is) some simpler ones. There's still a lot of text to go in, but I hope you'll appreciate the tider set up.
Lectures
29.01.2007
When trying to make more clips for the Videos page, I decided to make longer, deeper 'Lecture' videos instead. There's more to come (like videos on how to use Pioneer's CDJ1000 and DJM 600 DJ equipment), but so far people are positive about the first two.

The book is out in the US
25.01.2007
Looking at Amazon, it seems that the book has had an early release in the US. Check out the various links dotted (spread!) throughout this site for options on how to buy it (or use the links under 'the book')
Video Clips
10.12.2006
To back up a lot of the information in the book, I've uploaded some short video clips, covering beat structures, and the basic functions of mixers and turntables.

MySpace etc
We all know it's dumb, but face it, we all have a MySpace page. Feel free to add me as a friend if you're involved with any of the following (clicking on the link takes you to my page):

MyDJSpace
MyClubbingSpace
Chatroom
As an extension to the forum, the UserPlane chatroom allows us all to 'chat' - but more importantly, play music over the internet to each other.
Check out the forum for instructions on how to make this work, and to log-in to see if anyone's online.
Slappa CD cases rock! I use them for my CDs, and now finding the perfect next tune in my CD collection is 100 times easier. Check them out!
Video Clips
A video of a mix
Always thinking of more
Ok, the plan was to record an entire mix - but have a video camera running the entire time, pointing at the mixer. As people have asked about EQ setting and all that kinda stuff, I thought this would be a good idea. I still think it might be, but due to the size of the files (it'll probably be around 150-200Mb to download) I thought I'd upload a couple of 'tasters' first for you to see - and let me know if there's much point continuing with this thought..
This is going to be the most 'work in progress' part of the site. It takes a while to make these, and I'm constanting thinking of more to do. I'll keep updating this as often as I can, but if you have any requests at all for something 'in vision' - please just get in touch and I'll work on it.
That's not the entire reason that the whole mix isn't online - unfortunately, as you'll see in the second clip, it didn't quite work out the way I intended, and I had to end the filming quite suddenly. I need to find a better way to attach the camer to the wall!
You need Quicktime in order to play these videos. Quicktime 7 is better (as the files are smaller, and quicker for you) but as long as you've got QT6, you'll be ok. If you don't have either, go to www.quicktime.com to download a copy. I have been asked to do WMV and AVI versions, which will happen eventually, but for the time being, I'm worrying more about putting this clips online to give a good library of reference.
One last thing, the Beats and Bars page has a load of video clips to do with Beat Structure. So make sure to check that out if you're looking for that info.
